Biography

I have known since childhood that I belong to the visual world. When I was a young girl my mother attended an art academy, and I spent hours mesmerized watching the magic of painting. I did not develop the drawing skills, so my search for a suitable creative expression lasted until I was fifteen years old.
I spent one school year in Vienna and there I met there a professor of photography from the academy. This was a turning point in my life. The professor recognized my talent and creativity, so in the following months she showed me how photography, just like painting or any other art, can express feelings and opinions. Unlike perceiving magic in my childhood, this professor pushed into my hands the most powerful weapon, which still allows me to play like a child.

When I returned to Zagreb, I enrolled in the School of Applied Arts, and after 45 years, photography is still my profession, a hobby and an eternal love.

The work I create belongs to contemporary art, because, where some earlier artistic trends foregrounded the aesthetics, I center on the social and environment injustice.

With my portraits I want to capture the character of a person or the momentary emotion, whilst with the works I exhibit I send a message of criticism of our society.

ACTIVITIES IN CULTURE

– Since 2003, conducting photography courses, analog and digital photography

– From 2003 to 2009, head of the exhibition program of the Novigrad Italian Community. Over 60 exhibitions of renowned domestic and foreign authors were staged in that period. (exhibition set-up, photos for cataloguers, catalog design and selection of authors with an expert team).

– 2005-2019. Initiator of the cultural and tourist event “Foto ex tempore”, then as director of the event, which after 7 years gathers about sixty renowned photographers from Croatia and Europe.

– Since 2004, member or president of the jury at several regional photography contests

– 2008 menu for the county calendar – creative photography of young authors

– 2008 plaque from the City of Novigrad for leading the photo section in the Community of Italians Novigrad
