Daniela Tzvetkova
Biography
I am a professional artist born in Bulgaria currently living and working in Puglia, Italy.
I define myself as a pigment & fiber artist.
My artistic path started with construction/design of clothes and the knowledge of textile materials, to later move away from everyday reality towards scenography and costume design. This allowed me to learn various theatrical, pedagogical and experimental techniques that I still apply in my works today.
After a research phase in graphic design, I felt strongly the need to return to natural primary materials and be guided by them in an artistic experimentation through all the senses. Ancient history, science fiction and nature inspire me. I look for purity in my works, often generated by botanical materials that change their appearance and refer to olfactory memories. The extraction of colours from nature, screen-printing with vegetable inks, fabric decoration and creation of soft sculptures are part of my experimental work. All this is focused in the photographs I take which allow for a broader reading of the spirit of the work.
Beyond the use of classic fibers (fabrics and paper) I am interested in the potential of bioplastics and composite materials for creation of functional and decorative objects on different scales.
I am also a lead instructor of artistic-social courses for children and adolescents.
I have published illustrations and artist contributions in several books and magazines.
