Biography
Born in Paris, she graduated from the Institut Supérieur de Peinture VanDerKelen in Brussels, an institute specializing in marble and wood reproductions. In Belgium she also attended a three-year oilpainting course at the Académie des Beaux Arts de Watermael Boitsfort.
In Rome she worked in the fields of interior decoration, the restoration of antique decorations, the restyling of vintage furniture, and the restoration and decoration of frames. To deepen her expertise, she attended a two-year course in engraving techniques at the Scuola Ornamentale di San Giacomo. For several years now she has been mainly focusing on painting.
She lives and works in Rome.
“My passion for painting started with still-lifes, which I still love. I’m not so much interested in their shapes as in the stories and experiences that come with them. I have often drawn inspiration from discarded, second-hand objects which, by virtue of their nature as ‘non-life’, deep down have a story to tell.
My current work focuses on color:, its identity, its attractiveness, the search for balance between different painted layers, vibrations, and harmony. It is a matter of providing a mental space and of creating an emotional bond between the painter and the viewer.
Through my paintings I seek to establish a degree of emotional intimacy with the viewer, as though the two of us were connected. I think of these works as visual poems. Only when this balance is achieved, do I consider a painting to be finished. The finished painting only exists through the gaze of other people.”
