Biography
My education is humanistic, after classical studies, I’ve obtained a painting restoration degree at the Institute of Operative Arts in Perugia (now NED) and then I graduated in Painting and Visual Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara.
My research is an investigation conducted with primordial tools at the roots of our imagination,”balanced between natural materials, traditional techniques and a contemporary vision contaminated by technology” (Paola Bortolotti, 2012).
The collection of materials, traces, residues and textures, the relationship with the landscape and its transformations, the geographical imagery used to explore liminal places represents the core of my work which makes use of different media such as drawing, painting, ceramic.
The wild poppy capsules collected during the summer become a tool for drawing large maps while earth, coals and vegetable juices are the materials collected in the real landscape with which I paint views taken from digital exploration programs and ceramic is the material of choice with which I model still lifes and sculptures that investigate the relationship between man and nature.
In 2017 I founded, together with Gabriele Mallegni, Studio17, a research space dedicated to the contamination between visual arts and design among the finalists in 2021 of the Bienal Ceramica de Aveiro.
My publications, in the context of multidisciplinary research that investigate the relationship between words and images, appear in Per un sapere dei sensi, by Domenico Chianese and Andreina Fontana, Alpes, 2012, and Narciso e gli altri by Marina Breccia, Alpes, 2014.
In 2019, on the occasion of the exhibition Verrocchio the master of Leonardo and Natalia Goncharova at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, I curated the workshops for A più voci, a project of Palazzo Strozzi Foundation for people suffering from Alzheimer’s and for those who care for them
