Biography

I was born and grew up in northern Germany. Art always played a big role in my parents’ home, but I wanted to learn something proper and studied economics. After a few years in the profession and shortly before my exam as a tax consultant, I gave up everything to become an artist, especially a sculptor. I then studied at various summer academies in Salzburg and also in Hamburg Pentiment with Prof. Jan Koblasa, among others, who then became my personal teacher.

Later I worked intensively with stone and also taught it near Pietra Santa.

In 1998, I emigrated to Italy for love and moved to Sabina, 70 km north of Rome. It was very difficult at the beginning because it was almost impossible to exhibit or teach. I had already discovered my passion for teaching in Germany.

 In 2003 I also started teaching in Rome at Italian schools and at the German school in Rome. Later I taught at an American high school and then at two American universities, AUR and Temple University Rome. I opened an online business in 2018 where I teach art classes and also offer an art mentoring program.

Since 2007 I have also been working intensively with printing techniques and photography. I combine all of this in my work and installations.  I have never been able to commit myself to one material or one technique, but I enjoy playing with and using a wide variety of techniques. For me, art has something playful about it, on a deeper level, I discover new aspects of myself, which then become something general again in their most deeply personal aspects
