Biography

I was born in Molise and I soon moved to Rome, where I completed my studies first attending the Art School “Liceo Artistico” and then the Academy of Fine Arts where I was lucky enough to have teachers like Carrino, Guccione, Meloni and Cordio who were extraordinary teachers of arts and life. In 1975 I opened a studio in Rome where I simultaneously carried out both artistic research in the field of sculpture and the craft activities; for several years I have been producing ceramic objects for furnishing; I tried the goldsmith’s art by creating a line of jewelry that drew inspiration from my forms in sculpture; in collaboration with Sergio Tramonti I have been creating masks for the theater for several years; I worked closely with numerous artists including Cucchi, Schifano, Tito, etc.

1998) Project with the “Paese delle Donne-Arte”, participation in the international meeting in Havana (3000 women) realizing an art work and a CD Rom against the embargo on Cuba, together with 13 other artists.

1999) Project with the “Paese delle Donne-Arte”, a 48-hour non-stop event against the war in the Balkans showcased at the “Village Globale” (Rome) attended by about 50 artists.

Since 1998, I have been designing and realizing initiatives on various themes in collaboration with the “Sala 1 Gallery”:

2000) An event on the “Sacred lay thinking”, with a conference at the museum of contemporary art in Rome (MACRO) and an exhibition in the “Sala 1 gallery”.

2001) An event on the emotional impact of artists towards the new sciences (GMOs) with a conference at the Laboratory Museum of the “La Sapienza University of Rome”, and an exhibition at the “Galleria Giulia”.

2005) A theme event on public water with an exhibition at the “Cisterna delle Sette Sale” and a conference at the Mecenate Auditorium in Rome.

2009) A theme exhibition about “multiple identity” realized at the Via Ostiense Museum in Rome and awarded by the President of the Italian Republic.

2021) Project “Me and Myself: self-portraits during the lockdown”. 125 artists participated by creating self-portraits works which were collected in a six volumes book and showcased at the National Central Library of Rome, at the City Museum of the Territory of Vetralla and at the European Library of Rome. The books were finally given to the Italian Central National Library to keep it permanently.

1986 to 2012 I taught ceramics/sculpture at the school of Ornamental Arts “San Giacomo” in the Municipality of Rome.

To this day, I am part of the “Sala 1 gallery” artists in Rome and the “Los Colecionistas gallery” in Buenos Aires.

Artistic activity:

Participation to the Venice Biennale 2005
I was part of the 51st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale partecipating at the event “Già e non ancora. Artists for the liturgy today”. My work was a baptismal font which was commissioned by the National Office for Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage and will remain permanently in the Church of San Lio in Venice.
