On the day of the seventeenth edition of the Giornata del Contemporareo, presentation of the new website www.windmillart.it with the online launch of the first edition of the Women Visual Artists Database

This is the reason why the symbol of the Association WindMill ART POWER PLANT is a mill that catches the wind and transforms it in energy. To convert the wind of creativity in positive energy, to collect the requests of artists, to create real opportunities for them and to bring out the undisputed fact that every woman has the art of life in her hands. This is the aim of W.A.D.&community project, this is the result of such a strong motivation.

The project foresees the constitution of a data bank and of an in progress archive of women artists of every nationality, born during the XX century, currently active in the world of arts or who have recently passed away.

The aim of W.A.D.&community is to:

• Enhance and promote the great input that women give to the world of Arts with their professionalism and indefatigable search
• Perpetuate and defend from oblivion the oeuvres made by women in order to give them the chance to be understood in a cultural world still anchored on patriarchal grounds.
• Highlight the value of women artists through specific studies.
• Preserve the memory of entire lives who were dedicated to Arts.
• Promote studies and researches together with Art Academies and Universities.
• Support the realization of real opportunities for women artists.

The project aims to activate a community intended as a network of acquaintances between women artists helped by social media. The target is to assemble the Database as a living organism, rich of creative energy, which promotes exchanges of ideas and co-operations among artists, anchored in our days and projected to the future.

l’arte delle donne accoglie tutte le donne in un’opera vivente Women’s art gathers all women into a living artwork

Annuncia la pubblicazione del WOMEN VISUAL ARTISTS DATABASE (I edizione) che sarà reso  visibile  e  consultabile  online  gratuitamente  sul  sito  www.windmillart.it  nella sezione w.a.d.&Community

Il progetto è stato lanciato l’8 marzo 2021, in occasione della Giornata Internazionale della Donna, da W.A.D.& Community – Wind Mill noprofit organization con una never ending open call rivolta alle artiste visive contemporanee e del Novecento.

 Promosso attraverso una campagna social di mobile art action con il video ART IS IN YOUR HANDS (2020), il progetto prevede la costruzione di una banca dati concepita come archivio in divenire dedicato all’opera delle artiste internazionali.

Un progetto senza fine di lucro che unisce i due obbiettivi di WindMill: da una parte la promozione di studi specifici da parte delle Accademie d’Arte e delle Università, resi possibili grazie alla catalogazione e alla valorizzazione delle opere e dei profili biografici delle artiste; dall’altra la creazione di una community di artiste che condividano l’esperienza di questo database come un organismo vivente, inteso a favorire scambi di idee e collaborazioni con la finalità di porre la complessità dell’esperienza artistica femminile al centro del dibattito culturale in Italia e all’estero.

Le artiste sono invitate ad inserire la loro storia in una visione di arte orizzontale, condividendo esperienze di vita e lavoro, perché il loro esempio possa essere da stimolo alle nuove generazioni.

Le artiste rispondono spontaneamente alla call, inviando una scheda di profilo biografico insieme ad una selezione di immagini delle opere.

Per la I edizione di WOMEN VISUAL ARTISTS DATABASE il Comitato scientifico, di cui fanno parte Carolina Ciuti, Manuela De Leonardis, Laura VdB Facchini, Miranda Mac Phail, Nicoletta Ricasoli.
